Responsibilities


Charleston County's Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS), more commonly known as Charleston Center, is a substance use prevention, intervention, education, and treatment center.

The Mission of Charleston Center is to help the residents of Charleston County live productive lives, free from the impact of alcohol, other drugs, and addictive behaviors. We promote active recovery for persons whose lives are affected by addiction.

Charleston Center recognizes that addiction to alcohol and other drugs is a chronic, progressive disease that can be fatal if left untreated. Charleston Center provides the following programs and services, which have received Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Three-Year accreditation:


  • Residential Treatment Services and Withdrawal Management
  • Outpatient Services
  • Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP)
  • Medication Assisted Treatment (including all FDA approved medications)
  • Urine Drug Screening Lab
  • Prevention/Education Services, and many more...

Detoxification, Residential Units and the Helpline are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Outpatient groups and services have flexible scheduling, including evening hours.
